equal pay day

Today is Equal Pay Day!

Colorado Black Women for Political Action is proud to be an “Equal Pay Coalition Member,” with the The Women’s Foundation of Colorado. As we recognize Equal Pay Day today and SB23-105, which will ensure equal pay for equal work, Women of Color lose money by working full time in Colorado.

Black women lose over $1.8K a month or $900k over their career

Native women lose $2.4K a month or $1.15M over their career

Latinas lose over $2.4K a month or $1.2M over their career

Throughout their careers, Black women lose almost one million dollars to the wage gap. A long and continued history of workplace discrimination has stolen time and money away from so many Coloradans and their families. It’s time we put a stop to this theft and recoup our losses. By urging our legislators to pass the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, we can create honest and fair workplaces that give us the pay equity we deserve.

Thank you to Black Democratic Legislative Caucus of Colorado members, Senator Janet Buckner and Representative Jennifer Bacon for being Prime Sponsors of SB23-105. CBWPA will recognize Black Women’s Equal Pay Day later this year in the fall.

Contact your legislators in support of the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act using the phone call or email template on the Women’s Foundation of Colorado’s Civic Engagement page.
